which tool to use
If the rate confirmation or load-board post has a USDOT number, use DOT lookup. If the thread says MC, MX, or FF, use MC number lookup. Name search is last. Similar names are different companies. Identity theft often uses a near-name. If you already have a number, start with the number.
desk sequence
- Use the right identifier: USDOT on DOT lookup, MC/MX/FF on docket lookup.
- Match legal name and DBA to the rate confirmation. Extra words and Inc versus LLC are stops.
- Call the telephone on the census record. Do not skip that for a cell in the email.
- Confirm Active property authority and required BMC filing on L&I for this lane and commodity.
- If the lookup fails, check SAFER and L&I directly. Do not book from a load-board badge.
